Making winter: bringing colour indoors

As some of you may have seen on Twitter or Instagram, the lovely Silver Pebble is running a project called #making_winter - the idea is to connect people who struggle with winter, with people who love winter.. Why? Well hopefully those of us who love this time of year can help inspire, cheer, and add cosiness to the winter months for those of you who find it difficult. There is much to love and celebrate about this time of year! Mrs Pebs will be blogging about this from now until March next year, but if you look for the hashtag...

Fuchsia Friday

Following my last colour-themed post, when I noticed more yarn/flower colour matching happening in the garden, of course I had to play again. This time it's all about the pink. First up.. The yarn is BFL Sock in Alpine (for Kathy's Knits in Edinburgh) - it's named for the bright pinks of many alpines, e.g. saxifrage, pincushion flowers, and... That being said I have none in flower right now (just given the saxifrage a hair cut), so here it is along with sweet peas:    Hydrangea (this one belonged to my Grandma and is older than me):    And begonia...

Garden Colours of June

The title's self-explanatory I think.. I just love seeing the colour combat ions that my garden throws at me. This is mostly in view from the kitchen sink where I do my dyeing, so it does influence what goes into the monthly updates. Anyway... Enjoy!

5th of July Update Preview (Part 2)

Welcome to part two of tomorrow's update preview! It's just photos of yarn, but I thought the different colour combinations might help you decide (or make it worse!). First of all I did do five batches of Tempo 4ply (superwash wool/nylon) - they are Dandelion, Compost, Coppice, Steel and Antique Rose (which is a surprisingly difficult to photograph colour - it's very pale lilacy pink). Ok and the final hand dyed yarns for the update are all on Oakworth 4ply (100% superwash Polwarth wool). I am really loving this yarn and it seems you are too (it's nice to know...

5th of July Update Preview (Part 1)

On Sunday, we have a lovely big update for you, hopefully at 2pm UK time, assuming I've found a 3G signal at some point before that!  There's loads of stuff included, and I won't go through it all, but not pictured here are Original Stripe Quadratic kits, and Aisling kits in Titus 4ply in the two original colour combinations - Rambling Rose/Ice and Whispering Grass/Hibiscus. As always, numbers are very limited. They'll be in the kits section of the website. I will show you the flock though - and it's not just sheep! There are Herdwick ewes, tups, and LAMBS!...
