Today I thought I'd introduce you to the next featured pattern in our lovely Drift Collection. Hardcastle is a pair of cosy cabled fingerless mitts.. they're beautifully detailed, and what I really love is that because the palm of the hands is ribbed, you get a really good-fitting mitt, which will stretch or contract to the size of your hands (although there are different sizes available too. Here's the pattern information Materials Eden Cottage Yarns Whitfell DK (DK, 50g; 100% baby Alpaca; 100m / 109yds per 50g skein) Shade: Lichen; 1 (2) x 50g skein(s) Needles and Accessories One set of 3mm / US2.5 double pointed needles (or the size needed to obtain the correct gauge). Note: Whilst cabling can be done without a needle it is recommended that you use one here due to the complexity of the 5-stitch cables. Notions Two stitch markers, waste yarn, cable needle, DPNs or preferred method of small circumference knitting. Sizes S (M, L) Finished circumference: 18 (22, 26) cm / 7 (8.75, 10.25)in To fit: 17.5-20 (20-23, 24-27) cm / 7-8 (8-9, 9.5-10.5)in The mitts can be worked in two lengths; standard 19cm / 7.5in and extra long, extending to fingertips, 22cm / 8.5in Length: 19 (22)cm / 7.5 (8.5)in Gauge 20 sts and 33 rows to 10cm (4in) in 2x2 rib on 3mm needles after blocking And here are some links for you Pattern page on Ravelry Buy the Ebook on Ravelry Buy the single print pattern Buy the print book from Sunday onwards (print copies have digital download codes inside) Yarn is here And here's the Lookbook (which is basically a book preview) Don't forget we've also got a Driftalong KAL/CAL (#Driftalong) happening over on the ECY Ravelry group, and everyone is welcome.                 On location We went to Gibson Mill (which is just by Hardcastle Crags) to shoot these fingerless mitts. We thought it'd be a good idea to visit their namesake, and it gave us an opportunity to explore somewhere new, which is always good for inspiration. The woodland surrounding the mill and throughout the valley is luscious and stunning. If you're in the Hebden Bridge area, we really recommend going for a walk in the valley. • Lovely, lovely, mitts. And what a great location. I’ve never been and I don’t live that far away!
