With British summer now in full swing, it feels like we can just about manage with some lighter knitwear now.. So when it's raining and windy outside but not actually that cold, what better than a light lace beret?
The Thornfield Collection comprises three pieces by Jane Burns (of

HERE), featuring the most beautiful combination of lace, cables, and optional sparkly beads. The gorgeousness of Askham 4ply (baby alpaca/silk blend) lends itself so well.
I'm sure many of you will pick up on the reference - Jane says, "The collection was inspired by my favourite novel, Jane Eyre. The pairing of the simple classic mesh lace with the elegant and elaborate cables and beads, symbolising Jane’s transition from the Lowood to Thornfield." As you can see, this cowl is the full length version, which does three loops around my neck. You can opt to do the medium length, which is two loops, or the short length which is one loop.
The hat is also easy to adapt - you can easily work more or fewer of the brim repeats to make it a longer slouchy hat, or even a beanie.
