About the pattern
Inspired by the Bombe machine, used in the decryption process at Bletchley, the circle motif represents the drums on the machine. Worked in the round and grafted together to give a fully reversible cowl.
Materials
Eden Cottage Yarns Milburn 4ply (4ply/Fingering weight; 85% Bluefaced Leicester Wool, 15% Silk; 200m /218yds per 50g skein)
MC: Steel x 2 skeins
CC: Small amounts of contrasting colours. Sample uses 18 x 3g (54g in total) of Damson, Harvest Gold, Night Sky and Rust
Needles and Accessories
3.25mm(US 3) circular needle, 40cm / 16in length or DPNs
1 stitch marker
Waste yarn in a similar weight for provisional cast on
Crochet hook in a similar size to needle for provisional cast on
Tapestry needle
Size
One size: 20cm / 8in width x56cm / 22.5in length
Gauge
28sts and 32 rows to 10cm (4in) over stocking stitch using 3.25mm needles or size needed to achieve gauge, after blocking.
Gauge is not critical but will affect finished size and yarn amounts.
