Brimham Fluff (lace) in Dusk (Dyelot 160924)

Hand dyed brushed (ie fluffy!) superwash merino/nylon super-soft laceweight yarn in colourway Dusk.

Due to the way this yarn takes dye you might find that the semi-solid colourways have a bit more tonal variation than they do on other yarns. Also each skein is individually dyed so dyelots are as close a match as I can manage.

Brimham Fluff is the most delicious blend of brushed superwash merino which is wrapped around a nylon core then brushed to make it fluffy and fuzzy. The fabric it creates is cuddly, lightweight, and warm. On smaller needles/hook it makes a more dense and structured fabric which works surprisingly well for cables (go for big and simple ones for the best visual effect). On larger needles/hook the fabric gets more drapey and loose, and lacks structure, but it's super-lofty and warm yet so light you can barely feel it until you take it off and realise how warm it was.

This yarn works well held double with a smooth laceweight or a 4ply/fingering weight. For the former the gauge is roughly equivalent to DK, and for the latter the gauge is roughly equivalent to aran, but you'll need to play around with it to get a gauge and fabric that you're happy with. Also try it held double with a sparkly yarn for a beautiful subtle glittery effect.

Note that this yarn comes in big 100g skeins so if you're using it as a substitute for other fluffy yarns which traditionally come in 50g skeins you'll need to take that into account. It has a generous 600m per skein as well so it goes far. Finally, so far I am finding that it's tougher than it looks - I recommend gentle handling as always, but it's more hardwearing than I expected.

Stats:

80% superwash merino, 20% nylon
100g
600m/656yds
3 - 6mm needles/hook (US 2.5-10 and D-J)

Handwash gently and lay flat to dry. Do not dry in direct sunlight and do not tumble or spin dry it.

We recommend that you wash dark colours separately or wash a swatch before using dark and light colours together.

As with all hand dyed yarns, I would recommend that you use two skeins at a time, alternating from each one every couple of rows/rounds (unless it's a one-skein project).
