Munchkin Pumpkins knitting pattern: Free Digital Download

In a supermarket many moons ago I spotted these cute, squat pumpkins called Munchkin Pumpkins, and decided I should knit some (of course!). This simple pattern produces nice squat little pumpkins with ridges created using purl stitches.

Originally published in 2009, the 2024 update uses DK yarn plus a 4ply Yarnling™️ and is designed so that you should be able to get four (maybe even five) pumpkins out of one 50g ball + one 5g Yarnling™️. 

Yarn

Eden Cottage Yarns Milburn DK (superwash Bluefaced Leicster/silk; 50g; 200m)

Quantity: approx. 9g per pumpkin

Eden Cottage Yarns 4ply Yarnling™️ (various yarn types; 5g; 17-19m)

Quantity: approx. 0.7g

Needles / notions

3mm needles for working in the round

Gauge 

6 sts x 7 rows per 2.5cm / 1 inch

(Aim for a tight gauge)

Sizing 

Diameter: approx. 7cm

Height (without stalk): approx. 5.5cm
