Ebb and Flow - a new collection by Anni Howard

Hello! Today I wanted to tell you about something we've mentioned in our newsletter but haven't talked about on here - Anni Howard's latest new collection, Ebb and Flow, a range of knit and crochet designs inspired by the bleak beauty of the  Essex coastline and river estuaries. Eden Cottage Yarns are used in three of the four designs. Here's the whole collection together - you can really see the soft, bleak palette and rich textures, and I think they work beautifully with my yarns - I love bleak landscapes and barely-there colours, and find them incredibly compelling. Tiny Shoots: A Spring Tee

Since it's all sunny and lovely outside (no? Come to Yorkshire!) I've found myself looking for lighter knitwear. So here's some inspiration, in the form of one of my absolute favourites . It's Tiny Shoots, by Kate Heppell. It's a simple knit, with a lace section at the top, which is both written and charted in the pattern. It's worked top down, starting with a really cool German twisted cast on (there's a YouTube link in the pattern), which is followed by the yoke with twisted stitches. Anyone with a large bust like me will know how long yoke rows can get, but this hasn't been too bad so far as the pattern has kept...

Featuring: Ja Ja

Today I'm doing a little feature on Ja Ja, from our lovely Drift Collection. Ja Ja is a beautiful swing jacket by Åsa Tricosa, which is absolutely nailed by the details involved - there's Åsa's own Ziggurat method which first of all ensures a great fit across the neck and shoulders; there's the tuck on the back, which makes the jacket swing; there's the pockets, which are a good size without adding bulk; there's the double-knitted hemming for the button band, lower hem, and sleeve hems; oh and the sleeve hems are asymmetrical; and there's the super-cool buttonholes (ideal forlarge...
