The other night we went out for dinner and I wore this shawl, so it reminded me I should feature it on the blog. It's had a lot of compliments at shows as well - it's called Sister Syster and is by Asa Tricosa. As you can see, it's a clever design. It flows both in design and to wear, thanks to the crossing cables both in the body and along the beautifully structured edging. It requires 800-900 yards, so with 218yds per 50g ball of Milburn 4ply (which is what this one is made in) you'll need four or five balls. Milburn 4ply is a great choice for this shawl as although the silk content aids with drape and shine, the woolliness of it keeps the shawl light and fluid. The elongated, tapering sort-of-triangle-ish shape is ideal for both wearing in a scarfy style as well as throwing around the shoulders in a more tranditional shawl style. This shawl just makes me think of late summer.. I think it's the colour..

  • Good to see Milburn 4 ply Harvest Gold knitted up – I’m ploughing through Summer Festival by Georgie Nicholson in it. Just about 1 1/2 sleeves to go, so will end up being a Harvest Festival I think, which of course was the plan all along! ?

  • That cabling is stunning! The yarn you chose made it really drapey and perfect. I’m going to have to add that yarn to my “to knit with” list!
