Free Pattern: Lucky Dip Yarnling Cowl (DK)

Like the 4ply version, this cowl is a simple and fun project to do with our Lucky Dip Yarnlings - it uses 10 of them which you can get from THIS page on our website. The DK version is just that bit more cosy than the 4ply version and I've found myself using both cowls just as much, depending on the weather! It is - as you might expect - very quick to make if you want a little 'breather' project in between big projects; and it will be easier on the hands if you have arthritis/carpal tunnel/RSI etc. ☺️   While I was...

Free Pattern: Lucky Dip Yarnling Cowl (4ply)

This cowl is a simple and fun project to do with our Lucky Dip Yarnlings - it uses 15 of them which you can get either in a cute jar or not from THIS page on our website.  For me, the joy of it was not knowing which colour would be coming next. I really had to let go of my inner control freak, which I found quite hard, but once I got going I actually loved it and it really kept me knitting. "If you like it then you oughta knit a cat on it!"

Cat Knits by Marna Gilligan of 'an caitin beag' (she of sinister cat fame!) is a book of 16 knit designs all featuring Marna's signature kitties on a mixture of garments and accessories. Each section has a garment AND matching accessories included, and they range from nice simple textures, to stranded colourwork (like sinister cats), to intarsia. Intarsia! I swear that this...

I (Victoria) still worked alone at that point, and producing a quite large collection from loads of different designers, whilst still running the business, was a huge challenge. I did most of the photography myself (I couldn't afford to do anything else!), but did have a paid tech editor, and proof reader, of course. Meanwhile I was also still dyeing yarn,...

Ebb and Flow - a new collection by Anni Howard

Hello! Today I wanted to tell you about something we've mentioned in our newsletter but haven't talked about on here - Anni Howard's latest new collection, Ebb and Flow, a range of knit and crochet designs inspired by the bleak beauty of the  Essex coastline and river estuaries. Eden Cottage Yarns are used in three of the four designs. Here's the whole collection together - you can really see the soft, bleak palette and rich textures, and I think they work beautifully with my yarns - I love bleak landscapes and barely-there colours, and find them incredibly compelling. Strood Strood is...
