The Drift Collection... four years on! We revisit an ECY classic.
Today marks four years since the release of our Drift Collection! Can you believe it?! I know some of you will have been involved in test-knitting for it and will know how big a deal it was for us. I (Victoria) still worked alone at that point, and producing a quite large collection from loads of different designers, whilst still running the business, was a huge challenge. I did most of the photography myself (I couldn't afford to do anything else!), but did have a paid tech editor, and proof reader, of course. Meanwhile I was also still dyeing yarn,...

More mini skein project ideas for knitting and crochet 💙
18 months ago Victoria wrote a blog post with some ideas of how to use mini skeins. If you haven't seen it, take a look HERE. Six months ago we introduced our third variety of mini skein giving you the choice between Carlisle Fingering, our superwash merino singles yarn, Nateby 4ply, sparkly lurex blended with superwash merino and nylon, and the most recently added Brimham 4ply, superwash merino and nylon. Updates over summer are going to heavily feature mini skeins and so we thought it was the ideal time to give you some more ideas of ways to use them....
Looking for knitting pattern inspiration for mohair??
Eldwick Lace is the fluffiest of fluffy yarns, with its silky core and gorgeous halo of soft mohair.. but what to make with it? There are plenty of options as always, but sometimes we need a bit of inspiration, and pointing in the right direction, don't we?! Once you get going you'll want to make ALL the things! With 400m per 50g skein this yarn goes a long way, and because of the fluff you can use large needles with it and it still creates a warm and cosy fabric. There's a more expansive blog post all about it HERE...

Life after the Skimming Stones MCAL
How did you get on with your Skimming Stones shawl? Did you enjoy the surprise element of it? Personally I am loving it and have particularly enjoyed seeing the excitement from everyone and all the different versions, especially using our yarn packs! So what next? If you fancy something similar, have you considered The Shawl Project Book 3, also from The Crochet Project? The book contains five very different shawl patterns all using smaller quantities of many colours and so is ideal if you have a set of mini skeins or part used balls/skeins of leftover yarn. We do have...
Can crocheters use laceweight yarn?
In short... yes! My adventures in crochet have taken a new turn with my introduction to our new mohair silk laceweight yarn, Eldwick Lace. As someone who crochets quite tightly and is often guilty of getting my hook caught I was nervous of making a huge knotty mess using this delicate fuzzy yarn but let me tell you, it is a dream to work with! For my first project I have been working on a Diamonds and Tassels shawl by Sanda Paul aka Cherry Heart which you can find on Ravelry HERE. It is a nice straightforward project which once...
