Pattern Inspiration: Hetton
This squooshy scarf is Hetton by Tracey Todhunter.. it's a simple enough pattern but the stitches make it really cosy. It's perfect for colder days. This pink sample is made using Whitfell DK in Fuchsia and took four 50g balls. It's also perfect for two 100g skeins of any other DK. This green version is Bowland DK in Algae. I've worn this scarf a LOT over the winter. It's just so squidgy and lovely!
Shawl Love: Sister Syster
The other night we went out for dinner and I wore this shawl, so it reminded me I should feature it on the blog. It's had a lot of compliments at shows as well - it's called Sister Syster and is by Asa Tricosa. As you can see, it's a clever design. It flows both in design and to wear, thanks to the crossing cables both in the body and along the beautifully structured edging. It requires 800-900 yards, so with 218yds per 50g ball of Milburn 4ply (which is what this one is made in) you'll need four or five...

Shawl love: Masgot
This is Masgot by Justyna Lorkowska. It's been at lots of shows with me over the past year (I finished it in Nov 2015) and had a lot of compliments. It has a simple construction, is fun and relaxing to knit, and it's great to wear. The yarns I used are: 2 x Milburn 4ply in Steel; 2 x Milburn 4ply in Natural; and 1 x Askham 4ply in Air for the contrast colour. Those are 50g balls by the way. You can find them HERE. I would recommend using a stretchy edging method - I usually do for crescent...

Tiny Shoots: A Spring Tee
Since it's all sunny and lovely outside (no? Come to Yorkshire!) I've found myself looking for lighter knitwear. So here's some inspiration, in the form of one of my absolute favourites . It's Tiny Shoots, by Kate Heppell. It's a simple knit, with a lace section at the top, which is both written and charted in the pattern. Kate's original sample (in the Ravelry pics) was done in BFL Sock in Bluebell, but this sample of mine is done in Milburn 4ply. We still have some skeins of Rust for sale with a clearance discount (because although I adore this...
Acer: a crocheted shawl
Today I thought I'd talk about Acer by Joanne Scrace of The Crochet Project. I know many of you will recognise it as I was showing my progress on Facebook and Instagram in March whilst I was making it. It took a while actually; I didn't realise why until I blocked it and saw how big it is. I usually wear shawls back to front like so.. Anyhow, Acer is my first bit of proper crochet.. I've made amigurumi and several ripple blankets but that's it. So it felt like a bit of a daunting project, but I just...
