FO: Tailcoat

So this is the main reason for our little soirée around Kirkstall Abbey yesterday: to get some pics of my Isis Tailcoat. It's a Purl Alpaca design - HERE on Ravelry, which I made to wear at a winter (on the Thames) wedding, and a ball the week after. You can see my Ravelry project page for it HERE if you should fancy having a nosey.        The yarn is Whitfell Chunky in Steel, which is HERE (with an automatic 10% off more than 500g). Actually the pattern is meant to be worked in DK on 6mm needles, but...

Fairisle Friday: Rokeby

Today I thought I'd join in wit Fairisle Friday, with my Rokeby mitts. It's that time of year, after all, don't you think?  These are rally simple - it's just a classic houndstooth pattern, which means you never have to strand across more than three stitches..very convenient.  I did somewhat overcomplicate things by adding in an optional flip top to the pattern though.  You'll need about 25g of each colour for the fingerless mitts, and abut 37g of each colour for the flip tops - although I think my samples here are all either small or medium so allow more...

Featuring: Ja Ja

Today I'm doing a little feature on Ja Ja, from our lovely Drift Collection. Ja Ja is a beautiful swing jacket by Åsa Tricosa, which is absolutely nailed by the details involved - there's Åsa's own Ziggurat method which first of all ensures a great fit across the neck and shoulders; there's the tuck on the back, which makes the jacket swing; there's the pockets, which are a good size without adding bulk; there's the double-knitted hemming for the button band, lower hem, and sleeve hems; oh and the sleeve hems are asymmetrical; and there's the super-cool buttonholes (ideal forlarge...

News: Drift..

with only two weeks to go until the digital release of our new collection, I thought it'd be good to introduce it more properly and give you a better idea of what to expect.     So without further ado I will first tell you that the collection is named Drift.. And that the patterns use Whitfell DK, which is our snuggly baby alpaca.    The patterns include crochet as well as knitting.. And the patterns include both accessories and garments - including a kid's garment.. We *should* also be releasing Whitfell DK in Steel and Natural alongside the collection (if...

New Pattern: Trailing Ivy

Trailing Ivy in Simply Knitting 135 – available to purchase from 19th June 2015 These gorgeous socks are designed by Clare Devine, and feature lovely rich cables. They're worked in DK, which I think is really cool - there aren't enough nice DK sock patterns about, and they work up so quickly and are great to wear. Clare says: "Inspired by the beautiful subtle green tones of Eden Cottage’s colourway Hyssop these socks feature a meandering cable detail that sweeps along the sock. This slightly unusual cable has reverse stocking stitch sections, highlighted by the superb stitch definition of Eden...
