The Crochet Project projects by Sparkles

Hi all, Laura here again with more of my adventures in crochet! You may have seen our recent posts about the upcoming Skimming Stones MCAL from The Crochet Project. I am very excited to take part in this as it is the perfect opportunity to combine crochet and our yarns! This will not be my first attempt at a pattern from The Crochet Project as in the past year I have completed quite a few projects and I would like to share these with you. In September, I had the honour of being a bridesmaid for my friend at her...

A cosy aran weight knitted shawl: Midnight Sunset

We're very keen on all things cosy right now - winter in the UK seems to shift a bit later every year which is great for us knitters and crocheters who love to bundle up in our handmade pieces. Or is that just me?!  With this in mind Ruth McKeon aka Knitterarium's latest shawl pattern release is really striking a chord with me! It's a big semi-circle shawl which has both lace and cosy garter stitch sections, and rather unusually it's made in aran weight yarn. It's Quadratic's third birthday!

He had originally submitted it to Knitty and to be honest I was absolutely convinced it'd get in - I mean, what’s not to love? FFFS! Five reasons to knit this awesome shawl.

FFFS! No not that. This is the Fuss Free Festival Shawl by Louise Tilbrook - if you're in the Everyday Knitter Facebook group you'll have undoubtedly seen posts about this. I've made two, and I know lots of other people have made more than one. So... why? 1. It's super-easy It'd be perfect for beginner knitters, and for more practised folks it's the perfect mindless TV/travel project. I made my first one (HERE on Ravelry) whilst on holiday in Norfolk with a group of ten friends, so I needed something super-easy. As I posted on the Everyday Knitter group at...

New pattern alert! (Cornhill)

Afternoon! I hope today is treating you well. Seeing as it's a Friday and I'm blitzing through admin today, one of the things I had on the to do list was 'publish Cornhill'. So it's done. You can find it here on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cornhill It's a very simple shawl (or scarf) which uses 400m of each of two colours of 4ply. Or you could use different contrast colours which you could use smaller amounts for. (sorry about the grimace - it was very sunny) The rows do get long towards the end but they are very easy and it's worth...
