Here's a gallery of projects which use my hand dyed Brimham Fluff (Lace) yarn.

Brimham Fluff  (100g/600m) is superwash extrafine merino/nylon and it's brushed to give that beautiful fluffy texture. It's what I think of as a heavy laceweight yarn so it's a little thicker than the usual fluffy mohair or alpaca 2ply laceweight yarns, but it is still a fantastic non-tickly substitute for them. With 600m to 100g it also goes for miles! When used on its own it is similar to other fluffy yarns in that it has almost no structure or drape, especially at a loose gauge. This means it is very light and lofty, and supremely soft and warm. Even more so when used held double with itself! However, held double with a smooth 2ply laceweight and you get a more structured but still light and lofty fabric; held double with a smooth 4ply you get a far more structured and thicker fabric which is incredibly warm considering how light it still feels to wear.

Based on my tests and early tests from a number of other people I am recommending 3-6mm needles or hook for the yarn used on its own; if you hold it double with laceweight I'd suggest trying 4mm+ and if you hold it double with 4ply I'd suggest trying 4.5mm+. The image below shows Brimham Fluff alongside a skein of Titus Lace. See projects below for more info and inspiration!

Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here.

Victoria's (mine) Cloud Cowl using the first ever skein of Brimham Fluff (1 x 100g skein), on a 4.5mm hook:

Victoria's Manis by Yamagara using half a skein of Brimham Fluff and about half a skein of sparkly Nateby 4ply, starting with 3.5mm needles at the bottom and moving gradually up to 6mm needles at the top (useful for testing the yarn at different gauges!):

Claire's Helix Cardigan by Mar.Gue.Née made using a strand of Brimham Fluff (two 100g skeins in total) and a strand of Titus Lace (one 100g skein) on 4mm needles:

Tracy's Tunisian Crocheted and knitted reversible jumper using Brimham Fluff (one 100g skein) and a smooth yarn (vegan ginger yarn) from stash. She says it's super-cosy and "the smooshiest thing ever"; and that the pattern is "two squares with the waist as long as I could get it, sew up, and I cheated and made flat sleeves then sewed them on. The Tunisian crochet was the basic simple stitch, and the rest was knitted".

Debbie's Cumulus Blouse by Petite Knit using two strands of Brimham Fluff held double (and I think 4.5mm needles):
