Lowther Lace: Patterns and Projects using our alpaca/silk fluffy laceweight yarn

It occurred to us that it might be really useful to have an ECY way to browse patterns and projects made using specific yarns, for inspiration and ideas. It's one of those things where once you think of it it seems blatantly obvious 🙈🤣  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere.  Lowther Lace is a sumptuous blend of baby suri alpaca and mulberry silk. The alpaca fibre gives this yarn a wonderful cloud-like fuzzy halo and offers a great alternative to mohair. This yarn is ideal...

Rosedale 4ply and Silverdale 4ply: projects and patterns using our stellina sparkly merino yarns

This blog post is designed as a useful resource for inspiration for a specific yarn. There are projects that use it, and patterns that call for it. It's so handy to have all this in one place!  Just FYI - there are no links to Ravelry here. We've linked to patterns and projects that are available to purchase/view elsewhere. If they're only available on Ravelry we will say that, but not link to it.  Rosedale 4ply - our gold sparkle sock yarn - is a luxurious blend of superwash merino giving softness, nylon for durability and a strand of gold...

Lowther Lace - fluff that won't get your goat

By now you will hopefully have seen our latest fluffy yarn addition to the ECY stable (or should I say.. garden) - Lowther Lace. We had seen this yarn around for a while but had been resisting as we already had a fluffy yarn, Eldwick Lace. However, with quite a few people feeling sad because they can’t use mohair, I decided it was time to offer something fluffy that isn’t mohair (note that this does also shed fibres though!). Hence the fluffy baby alpaca/silk yarn came along. I did a YouTube video about it which you can watch HERE if...

Introducing Keld Aran - a beautiful new merino/linen addition

Well this is exciting! We have a brand new yarn, and it is *beautiful*! You may already (hopefully!) be familiar with our Keld Fingering yarn, which is 90% superwash merino and 10% linen.. and now we have the Aran version! This iteration of it is spun as a two-ply, which will give it better strength for a thicker yarn (a thicker singles yarn isn't usually a great idea - they tend to pill) but whilst also allowing the fibres to bloom and be all soft and lovely.  Just like its sister, this yarn has that unique and rustic appearance from...

Reintroducing Pendle DK: pure merino loveliness

Pendle DK is our luscious, squishy, cosy pure superwash extrafine merino. There are a lot of adjectives I could use for this yarn but they all basically come back to it being SQUISHY AF.  We've had Pendle DK for many years, and it's always been quite a soft and sturdy yarn but not all *that* soft (weirdly) compared to say Brimham DK for example (which uses the same merino). However, new for 2021 it has had an upgrade. It's still extrafine merino (that's defined by the micron count of the fibre) but it is just... better. It's honestly just so...
