Combining Milburn 4ply/DK with fluffy Eldwick Lace
Following the success of the ever-popular Love Note pattern by Tin Can Knits (available on Ravelry and available from them directly HERE) and having made mine in Milburn 4ply (HERE) held double with Eldwick Lace (HERE) I thought it would be cool to do an Eldwick Lace update of 20 colours specifically chosen to go with each of the 20 Milburn colours. Milburn DK - can I use it for garments?
We quite often get asked if Milburn DK is ok for garments - with being a lustrous and silky yarn I think people assume that it will be too heavy, or will drop, or not hold its shape. Or perhaps there's another reason that I've forgotten! Anyway, whatever the reason for the question, I can certainly answer it with a resounding yes. 😄 I've made a few, and I found that it didn't do anything unexpected. Pattern recommendations for Bowland Lace
We thought it would be really useful to have a blog post of pattern recommendations for our Bowland Lace yarn (we also have Askham Lace - baby alpaca/silk - and Titus Lace - merino/silk - which would work too) as 2ply laceweight isn't the easiest to know what to do with other than lace shawls. Introducing Bowland Lace: our new BFL laceweight yarn
We are proud of all our yarns, but of course our British wool ones are a particular source of joy. Our Bowland and Milburn yarn ranges have been an intergral part of our offering for years, with Bowland going right back to the beginning of ECY in 2011. Bowland is 100% superwash British Bluefaced Leicester wool; and Milburn is that but with silk blended in - plus it's mill-dyed (also in Yorkshire).
