FO Friday: Caramia
With the weather here in Britain finally feeling a bit more wintry, now would seem like a good time to show off an FO from early December which I thought I'd need and haven't really done until now! This lovely Lopi-style sweater is Caramia by Kate Heppell, and featured in Knit Now originally. It's written for a different yarn (Ístex Álafoss Lopi), but as soon as I saw it I thought it'd be lovely in ECY Whitfell Chunky.. ..and it is. It got heavy whilst I was knitting it, and it feels heavy to hold, but once I put it...

Turbine
Today we're having a closer look at Turbine, from our Drift Collection. I'm working on my own Turbine, and so many of your have commented on it on social media, so this seems like a good time to mention more about the pattern. It's worked top down, starting with a really cool German twisted cast on (there's a YouTube link in the pattern), which is followed by the yoke with twisted stitches. Anyone with a large bust like me will know how long yoke rows can get, but this hasn't been too bad so far as the pattern has kept...
New patterns: Minted Collection
Today we're celebrating the release of the Mint Collection by Anna Elliott. Anna is a talented British designer, who I met through Knit Now magazine some years ago, and we've kept in contact ever since. She designed the lovely cosy Nature Collection for us, and we've collaborated on a number of magazine patterns too. Anyway.. mint.. yum.. Each of the three hats is named after a mint, and each one is completely different, which is really cool. They're made in Whitfell DK (100% baby alpaca with 100m per 50g ball), using the colours Ebony and Dogwood, but of course...
Featured pattern: Warm Hearted
To welcome in the new year, in the most snuggly way, today I'm featuring Warm Hearted by Louise Zass-Bangham. This beautiful blanket is part of Louise's Knit Play Colour collection, and although the pattern calls for aran, this one is knitted in our cosy Whitfell DK (100% baby alpaca) in Steel, but on the same size needles as in the pattern. The resulting blanket is drapey, but warm and soft. It's just the right size to put over your legs and get your feet under. It looks pretty square to me - I haven't measured it, but it's a large...

Featured pattern: Bothel
With yet another grey day outside, I thought I'd talk about another pattern from our cosy Drift Collection. This is Bothel, by the lovely Tracey Todhunter. It's crocheted, but if you're primarily a knitter please don't be put off by that - many of our testers were not really crocheters, and got on fine with this. It looks a bit daunting, but it's really not at all! The fabric that the stitches create is really nice and squishy and cosy - it's just perfect for today. Also, I'd like to point out that as well as a bobble, Tracey included...
