Want to see our first sparkly yarn??!
This morning I was out in the pouring rain photographing the sparkly yarn I've dyed for Saturday's 7am update... obviously the yarn was kept under the garden brolly but myself & camera ended up stood just outside the edge of it. I had woollies (handknits, obvs) and a waterproof on, and ended up creating a rainhat for my camera out of parcel tape and a sandwich bag. As you do. Anyway, this all means that all of the yarn photos are now up in the Facebook event page for this update, so you can see that HERE. If you mark...

Gallery: Bedale 4ply
Today's project gallery is courtesy of Bedale 4ply. This is our delectable baby yak/silk 4ply blend, which with amazing softness and shine creates really special shawls and other projects. It's worsted spun so it doesn't pill in the way that a lot of cashmere blend yarns do (our Hayton 4ply has cashmere in and that's the same - its worsted spun so barely pills). Anyway, here's what I hope is an inspiring gallery of projects using this yarn. Holyrood by Justyna Lorkowska, knitted by knittieferlittie in colourways Steel and Alpine (we sometimes have kits for this!). Love In A...
Gallery: Tempo 4ply
I thought it'd be useful to create a few gallieries of projects made with specific yarns; so here I am starting with Tempo 4ply which is our proper sock yarn. It is superwash wool blended with nylon, and let me tell you, it takes a LOT of abuse. It's also the softest version of this traditional blend that I've ever found (which is why I use it, obvs!). Thankyou to everyone who gave me permission to use their photos and link to their projects! I may as well start with what I've made using it, and some of you may recognise...
New Milburn 4ply shades! (And a lecture; sorry!)
I thought I might introduce you to the new-new shades of Milburn 4ply which arrived yesterday. They’re HERE on the website firstly, and the 500g packs get a little discount so if you want a sweater quantity you’re best picking one of those and then getting any additional balls. Let me tell you a bit about the new colours – they bring the palette of Milburn shades up to 15, and they’re all really well matched from my samples that I sent to the dyer (who is based not far from here). I’ve added in another neutral shade so there...
Gallery: the new shades
Now that all five shades have been revealed (and thankyou for the lovely response) I thought it'd be helpful for you to see a gallery of them all together, which I hope will make choosing colour combinations easier Bear in mind that Milburn 4ply does also work well alongside Askham 4ply and hand dyed bases such as BFL Sock, Oakworth 4ply, and Titus 4ply. If you want to go and see and squish the yarn in person before buying, I would heartily encourage you to visit one of our lovely stockists.. Ewe & Ply in Shrewsbury have a delivery arriving...
