Shawl Love: Holyrood
Pattern Inspiration: Hetton
This squooshy scarf is Hetton by Tracey Todhunter.. it's a simple enough pattern but the stitches make it really cosy. It's perfect for colder days. This pink sample is made using Whitfell DK in Fuchsia and took four 50g balls. It's also perfect for two 100g skeins of any other DK. This green version is Bowland DK in Algae. I've worn this scarf a LOT over the winter. It's just so squidgy and lovely!
Shawl Love: Sister Syster
The other night we went out for dinner and I wore this shawl, so it reminded me I should feature it on the blog. It's had a lot of compliments at shows as well - it's called Sister Syster and is by Asa Tricosa. As you can see, it's a clever design. It flows both in design and to wear, thanks to the crossing cables both in the body and along the beautifully structured edging. It has a simple construction, is fun and relaxing to knit, and it's great to wear. The yarns I used are: 2 x Milburn 4ply in Steel; 2 x Milburn 4ply in Natural; and 1 x Askham 4ply in Air for the contrast colour. Those are 50g balls by the way. You can find them HERE. I would recommend using a stretchy edging method - I usually do for crescent...

The Thornfield Collection
With British summer now in full swing, it feels like we can just about manage with some lighter knitwear now.. So when it's raining and windy outside but not actually that cold, what better than a light lace beret? The Thornfield Collection comprises three pieces by Jane Burns (of Lazy Sunday Socks fame - blogged HERE), featuring the most beautiful combination of lace, cables, and optional sparkly beads. The gorgeousness of Askham 4ply (baby alpaca/silk blend) lends itself so well. I'm sure many of you will pick up on the reference - Jane says, "The collection was inspired by my favourite...
